McEvila and Greenwood

Ancestry apparently charged for another month. I didn't think that would happen. Ooops. I decided to take another look at the tree and I decided to look around the McEvila and Greenwood on my father's side.

My Great Great Grandparents are James McEvila and Charlotte Greenwood.

Charlotte Greenwood's parents are James Greenwood and Anne ??????.

I've been trying to find censuses...

I suspect that Charles and Thomas are the names of the same person because of the ages. I have no idea if he is the son of James and Ann.

As for the female baby in the 1860 census, I suspect she must've died for she doesn't show in the next census.

I did look up both Charles and Thomas but I can't seem to figure out who to follow. There's a few that look like easy candidates for it but who knows. I can't follow Elizabeth because there's no telling who she married before 1900.

I can't find an 1880 census for James, Ann, or Elizabeth.

Could Ann have lied about her age or maybe the census taker jotted down the wrong age? Is it possible the E. in daughter Ann stands for Elizabeth? It's something to think about.

I received my paternal grandfather's birth certificate today!

Now all I have to do is wait for Elizabeth Rivait's to come but that may take a very long time because it was a request to the state instead of sending it off to a local town clerk.

I've been told that a lot of town clerks can only give out certified copies so sending out ten bucks a pop gets expensive.

McEvila / Greenwood

A cousin (I'm not sure exactly yet how she is related but she is! A somewhat distant cousin most likely) sent me papers that filled in some gaps when it came to the McEvila / Greenwood part of my family tree.

She sent me information on James McEvila and Charlotte Greenwood and their five children, Jessie, William, Anna, John, and Eugenia. Anna was my Great Grandmother and judging from this piece of paper, I believe the cousin descended from William.

She also sent me a scan of James McEvila's Certificate of Naturalization. His last name was written as McVeilla though. The other one is of James Greenwood's discharge from the service for reason of expiration of service.

Charlotte Greenwood's parents both came from Ireland. The cousin said that McEvila also came from Ireland and she has someone over there trying to find more information on both of them.
