Hayes

Wow, a distant cousin has popped up and contacted me with more information on the Hayes family! I'm gonna have to update the site soon and get it posted.

One thing I am very pleased to find out is that Cockle is indeed a family name. Jennie Mae Duprey's parents are Benjamin Duprey and Jennie Cockle. I'm gonna have to go back to the Charles Cockle entry and add the Cockle tag.

Results came in...

Wow. The results came in sooner than I thought.

In the FamilyTreeDNA database, I only matched one person. I am hoping to hear from that person to figure out where in the lineage we're related.

Northeastern Smiths DNA Project

At the moment, I am placed at the very top of the list and the Webmaster placed me in this group with the other person I matched:
---------------------------------------
GROUP 47, Haplogroup Q

21702 - 25 markers Henry Smith, b 1588 Eng. (Hempnall, Norfolkshire); d 1649, Rehoboth, Bristol Co., MA; m Judith Cooper.
133879 - 37 markers Justus Smith, b 1796 in Addison Co., VT.

My "Smith" Lineage is here:
Pedigree Chart 1
and continues to:
Pedigree Chart 5

If you're a SMITH cousin who comes from any part in my line, You should get a test done. It'll add more information to the tree.

Roadrunner...

I found out this morning that Roadrunner is changing their homepage stuff around. I just don't understand why they're suddenly offering two different options that lead to home.roadrunner.com (10mbs - FTP) and home.rr.com (50mbs - Web). Naturally, I took the FTP route.

I'll have to rush around and update the links.

Northeastern Smiths DNA Project

Northeastern Smiths DNA Project (http://www.smithconnections.com)

I have received e-mails from a couple people over the past few years about this site because of my Smith line. However, I've always had to delete the e-mails because paying for the test just wasn't possible.

A few weeks back, I took a gander at the site and saw that there was a sale. Believe it or not - An order was made tonight!

My father will be the one tested and I can't wait to see the results.

Carie Rivit - Stephen J. Rivait?

I'm going to have to figure out how the puzzle pieces work.

A birth registration came today from the Addison town clerk. It's for a male named Carie Rivit that was born October 18, 1876. His parents are Julius and Josephine (Moro) Rivit. Julius was born in Canada and Josephine was born in Fort Ann, New York.

Stephen J Rivait's tombstone says he was born 1876.

There's an 1880 census of Waltham, Addison County, Vermont that lists Stephen as 4 years of age.

I think it's safe to say that his original name was Carie before his parents changed it to Stephen before 1880. I'm still debating on whether or not using it on the site... but the parents are there and all. I guess I'll just have to pop it in as an interesting factoid.

As for what his middle initial could mean, I'm not sure. I was told that it was for Joseph but an Uncle came out of the blue and said it is for Julius.

Updated Site

Got the site updated with some new information. I felt overwhelmed at first but once I looked over the family tree and remembered a lot of things, the update kinda went smoothly. I got most of the new stuff up. I'll still be updating, I'm sure... hehe.

Site needs serious overhaul...

You know, the site may have worked for me at one time but as I fill in information, I'm finding that I seriously want to fix it up and make it look better. The KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) theme is really cluttering up some stuff...

I'd feel better if I had a domain url and be able to thrust everything into one spot instead of spreading everything out and whatnot. This is tough. Hmm...
